Clinical Laboratory Sciences is a healthcare discipline focused on delivering essential laboratory information and services necessary for disease diagnosis and treatment. MSU’s Clinical Laboratory Sciences program is one of the 240 existing programs in the United States. The laboratory results provided by clinical laboratory scientists influences approximately 70% the medical decisions for patient care. Within this field, they conduct diverse laboratory tests, verify accuracy, elucidate the implications of these tests, explore novel methodologies, and assess the efficiency of these diagnostic procedures.

Students pursuing this major are required to secure a position at one of the affiliated internship locations. Currently, there are four sites: Jackson, MS (Baptist), Tupelo, MS (North Mississippi Medical Center), Nashville, TN (Vanderbilt), and Little Rock, AR (University of Arkansas Medical Sciences).
